Granite is a natural product that is created in the ground over millions of years. It is therefore natural to expect variations in shading, veining and finish. In some materials, imperfections, “pitting” and even fossils can be apparent; these are in no way considered faults and are part of the natural beauty of granite and marble. All granite, marble, quartz and other materials are sold subject to natural variations in colour, thickness, shade, veining and the amount of brecciation; they are stopped, filled, reinforced, etc in accordance with normal trade practices. Samples should therefore be looked upon as a colour indication only. When the stone is extracted from the quarry the blocks are not a standard size. If pieces required cannot be cut in one, we reserve the right to place a joint in the most appropriate position.
The price calculated using the online quote or by sending a kitchen plan is a very accurate guide price based on your measurements provided. Once the templates have been completed the quotation and final price is confirmed.
Please note, the initial quote will only change if after the template the measurements and your requirements change from the original online quote, kitchen plan or any other form of communication.
Payment & Price
An Initial deposit of 10% is required in order to book in your template. Once the template is complete a further 40% deposit will be required in order for us to proceed with ordering and cutting your material. The remainder of the balance is due on the day of the installation once all work is completed. We are entitled to make adjustments to the price to take account of any increase in our supplier’s prices, or the imposition of any taxes or duties, or if due to an error or omission the price published for the goods is wrong whether or not the order has been confirmed. We will inform you of the correct price and give you the opportunity to cancel the order.
We will endeavor to deliver and fit granite worktops within 7-10 working days after templating subject to material availability. Any dates we specify or guarantee for templating, delivery and installation of our products are approximate only and we shall not be liable for any losses, costs, damages, charges, or expenses caused by any delay for templating, delivery and installation of our products.
Templating & Installation
Before we come to template you need to ensure all cabinets are level have sufficient braces and are secured firmly to the wall.
Please confirm the final location of sinks, hobs taps or any other fittings required and have these available on site.
Slight tolerances in Granite/Quartz/Marble overhangs and thickness are to be expected. Our fitting team may also need to chop out plaster. Every care is made when conducting such operations, but Stone Culture does not take any responsibility for plaster damage and it is the responsibility of the customer to make good these areas. Walls are rarely straight and as such natural wall gaps may occur it is the customer’s responsibility to fill the gaps if these appear after installation. It is therefore advisable to have upstands fitted unless the customer intends to tile.
Information supplied by the customer to Stone Culture such as templates, cut out dimensions, overhangs, splash backs, and positioning of cut outs at the time of templating or prior or subsequently given by other methods of communication is the customer’s responsibility and no liability whatsoever can be taken for incorrectly advised dimensions.
Most stone supplied by Stone Culture is 30mm in thickness and most hobs supplied by manufacturers are in excess of this measurement. In the event that the fitters need to alter the cabinets by routing / cutting out sections or providing extra braces the installers reserve the right to suspend the installation until a time where the cabinets are correctly prepared (a reschedule can incur additional charges). Alternatively some installers reserve the right to charge an extra £50.00 per cabinet at time of installation.
Prior to templating and installing all temporary work surfaces must be removed, all sinks, hobs and taps must be disconnected, if this is not done we reserve the right to charge for this work to be carried out.
Any work carried out after templating such as plastering the walls or changing the location of cabinets, hobs, sinks and taps can affect the finished product. Thus we reserve the right to charge for this to be rectified.
Granite seams are inevitable on some jobs. Seam placement is based on many factors, including, but not limited to, slab length, cabinet support, and appliance compatibility. All seams are slightly beveled and filled with a polyester epoxy chosen to match the stone colour as closely as possible. Seam width varies from job to job and is affected by many factors.
Stone Culture offer a 12 month labour only warranty to cover our workmanship and any failure of your worktop occurring as a result of our fabrication or installation. We consider a failure to be a breakage of the stone at the agreed unsupported areas (i.e overhangs), seams/joints coming apart and silicone sealants shrinking.
This labour warranty does not cover damage to the stone or breakages occurring from improper use of the stone (see Granite & Quartz Care and Maintenance Guide), or from dropping heavy objects which can cause chips or cracks. This labour warranty does not cover products that are used by the customer as flooring, external or internal cladding, vanities, for any commercial use or for any domestic use other than as an indoor kitchen worktop. This labour warranty does not cover any claim made more than 30 days after a fault in the fabrication or installation has become apparent to the customer. This warranty does not extend to cover associated expenses such as plumbing, electrical, cabinetry, flooring, walls or any other costs that may be incurred in the repair or replacement of an item covered by this warranty.
This labour warranty runs alongside any manufacturer material warranty (see below) for the first 12 months only. In case of a successful manufacturer material warranty claim, (if you appoint Stone Culture as your chosen fabricator) this labour warranty covers templating, fabrication and installation only. This warranty does not cover removal and disposal of existing worktops. In such cases this warranty does not cover any fault, defect, or damage arising from the template, fabrication, installation, fitting, modification or manipulation of the product by Stone Culture or any third party. For any claim outside of this 12 month period (regardless of the length of material warranty) Stone Culture reserve the right to charge the full price for labour including but not limited to fabrication, template and installation.
Granite is a naturally sourced material and as such there are no large brands or manufacturer which offer a material warranty. Quartz on the other hand does have a number of brands which offer a material warranty which covers things such as discolouration or imperfections within the stone. Please ask a member of our team for information on your specific products material manufacturer warranty.
The manufacturer/brand material warranty is exclusive of the labour only warranty offered by Stone Culture.
